A “post-modern-card” from a public art project in Wedding

The ZKU Center for Art and Urbanistics concept and practice were initiated by the artist collective and non-profit organization KUNSTrePUBLIK e.V.. The association managed to become the owner of the former railway depot and holds a 40 year lease on the ground. KUNSTrePUBLIK‘s concepts and projects are equally focused on local involvement, with community projects, and global exchange through a continuous residency program (at least 3-6 months). We visited the space for a deeper insight in Wedding, one of the neighborhoods where artists are moving recently in Berlin. So thanks to Nienke van Pijkeren, we discovered more about their actions on the area converted in a public park just in front of the port, a cafè with a terrace for the neighborhood, an internal arena for screening and several studios for artists in residency. Special dedication at art and urban space to be admitted, obviously. www.zku-berlin.org
